Women of Web3

When Lauren Ingram found she was newly unemployed from her role in tech and on maternity leave, she needed a new plan. She decided to upskill by learning about all things Web3, blockchain and the metaverse – and while she discovered a burgeoning area of emerging tech, she was shocked by the lack of women in it.

Since launching Women of Web3 in 2022, Lauren has grown WoW3 into a global community of over 20k women and curious minds to learn about emerging tech together.

They have partnered with the biggest names in tech, consulting, luxury and more – including Google, Amazon, Cartier, Charlotte Tilbury, and Shiseido in order to educate, and bring equity and accessibility.

The new logo now works as a tighter unit, prioritising legibility while incorporating some subtle, softer features within the typography. The wordmark is supported by three sparks – a design element already present in the original branding but developed further to inform a core part of the overall identity. A range of graphic sparks and splashes feature across the branding, being used to build patterns, hold messaging or simply add a design embellishment.

 

The new colour palette aimed to disrupt the visual tropes of the Web3 world, cutting through the futuristic gradients and amorphous metallic shapes with a broad and playful palette. These colours can flex across full-bleed designs for maximum impact or be paired with a warm off-white to create eye catching highlights. Alongside the collection of custom sparks, we also created a suite of bespoke illustrative icons to support the brand messaging, helping to express the more visually abstract notions of progress, collaboration and change.

 

The whole design system was created with usability in mind, ensuring that the team at Women of Web3 could piece together the different design elements to quickly and easily construct layouts and visuals across a variety of social and digital formats.
